Earlier this summer, Airbnb released a new feature called Icons, allowing guests to participate in unique experiences. According to a press release by Airbnb, “These experiences allow you to step into worlds you’ve only ever dreamed of.”
Some of the past Icon experiences include an overnight stay in Musée d’Orsay, crashing at the X-mansion, and drifting off in the “Up” House. A new experience releasing next month will let you stay at the Purple Rain house.
What is the Prince Purple Rain Experience?
Prince purchased the Minneapolis-based Purple Rain home in 2015, but it has never been open to the public.
Through Airbnb’s Icon experience, a select few will stay the night in the Kid’s bedroom and tour the home full of Prince’s personal items. Guests will also experience rare and special tracks in an exclusive studio session.
Revolution bandmates Lisa Coleman and Wendy Melvoin host the Prince Purple Rain experience.
How to Book a Stay at the Purple Rain House
There’s projected to be an overwhelming demand for Airbin Icon experiences, and the Purple Rain house is no exception. To enter for a chance to stay at this Minneapolis-based Icon, you must request to book the listing as soon as it becomes available in September. Upon request, you’ll be required to fill out booking dates, guest information, and the reason you’d like to stay.
Airbnb will randomly select entries, review answers, and invite selected guests to book. If you’re chosen, you’ll have 24 hours to complete the booking.
There’s no word yet on the price of the booking or the exact day it will go live.
